NBE receives the PCI DSS Certificate

NBE receives the PCI DSS Certificate for the sixth year in a row

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) succeeded as the first bank in Egypt to receive the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS V3.2.1) Certificate for the sixth year in a row. PCI DSS is a global multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for managing security, policies and procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures. This comprehensive standard is intended to help organizations proactively protect data of payment cards, prevent fraud and manage risks across the financial services sector in an efficient manner. PCI DSS is developed by the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) and reviewed periodically to ensure compliance, with a view to protecting customers' data and funds.

The awarding ceremony of the PCI DSS V3.2.1 Certificate was held at NBE's head office in the presence of Dalia al-Baz, NBE's Deputy Chairman; the heads of relevant groups and divisions; and Eng. Moustafa Ibrahim, the Chairman of Security Meter, the Egyptian representative of ControlCase. The Certificate was delivered by Mr. Suresh Dadlani, the Deputy Chairman of ControlCase, a certified global provider of PCI DSS compliance review.

On his part, Hisham Okasha commended this unprecedented achievement at the level of the Egyptian banking system. NBE succeeded in obtaining this certificate for the sixth year in a row and maintained its compliance with international standards as a result of the exerted efforts, fruitful cooperation, hard work and continued coordination among its sectors and branches. These efforts aimed at securing all aspects of work environment as well as customers' data on different systems and applications in light of the tremendous technological developments and the resulting challenges. This would enhance the confidence of customers and international institutions.

Dalia al-Baz confirmed that NBE previously obtained the PCI DSS V2/ V3/ V3.1/ V3.2, which signified NBE's continuous compliance with the standards set by PCI SSC. This is an international acknowledgement of NBE's merit of securing customers' data. The PCI DSS Certificate is one of the high-level international certificates, confirming NBE's continued expansion in providing e-payment services and establishing an extensive network of branches, ATMs and POS machines nationwide.

Visa officials congratulated NBE and expressed their appreciation for NBE's maintenance of this level of compliance with PCI DSS, which reflected NBE's commitment to securing the payment industry.
